39. Unable to cope any more

If you find yourself one day unable to cope any more with your ever increasing debts you should endeavour to step back and try to take stock of the situation. It may be easier to call on the services of a financial advisor. They can help you work out strategies to remove yourself from adverse credit through a process of debt consolidation.

This comes in many guises. Some of the most prevalent are bad credit loans, bad credit mortgages and Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVA). Each of these in turn has pros and cons and it is essential you know what you want and what you can afford from the outset. If you try and fail to get any of these debt consolidation products your adverse credit rating will just get worse.

An Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA) is a regulated arrangement organised through a third party who acts as go between and supervisor of your repayments to you and your creditors. Once in place it prevents them from contacting you to get you to pay up. At the end of the arrangement any outstanding debt is written off.

Bad credit mortgages and bad credit loans are different kettles of fish. With both bad credit mortgages and bad credit loans flexibility is built in but only in so far as lowering the amount you repay each month. From that, the period of the pay off may be consequently extended beyond a comfortable time frame.

Adverse credit needs to be addressed by debt consolidation if you really want to clear yourself of debts. An Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA) may be your best bet if you have a large debt and want better security.

Once you have paid off your debt and your credit rating has improved look at how to remain out of debt.
